Lateral Rigidity Test for ProX Carbon Rims

Rigidity is important index for carbon rim performance. Lateral rigidity is how well a rim resists flexing laterally(sideways) when a given load is applied in the direction. It is important for sharp accelerations or sprints, which are regularly encountered during races. Stiffness/rigidity does not equal strength. A less stiff rim can be as strong as a softer one.

  • Test Condition: Apply 20kgf force, test for 3 times.
  • Test Position: Valve hole area, the other 2 random positions.
  • Test Standard: Apply 20kgf force, should be no crack on rim
  • Test Result: Apply 20kgf force, max deformation=6.2mm, when withdraw force to 0kgf, deformation=0mm
