Why 32-Inch MTB Carbon Rims?
While 29-inch rims remain the industry standard, 32-inch carbon rim is designed to push the boundaries of MTB performance and explore the next evolution of rim size.
They are not meant to replace 29ers — they exist to offer new advantages for riders who prioritize efficiency, stability, and speed over rough terrain.
AD32-36 carbon rim is made from Toray T700 carbon fiber which is the basis to make high strength mtb carbon rims. The max rider weight limit is 120kg/265lb.
AD32-36SL carbon rim is made from premium Toray T700+T800 to achieve super lightweight, which is more suitable for lighter weight XC/AM riders (max weight limit 100kg/220lb).
Asymmetric design helps to make wheelset with more even spoke tension between drive side and non-drive side. On the one hand, it makes wheelset stiffer since the spoke tension on non-drive side can be higher (than regular carbon wheels built with symmetric rims). On the other hand, the closer spoke tension between two sides make the wheelset more difficult to get loose after long time of use, which means less maintenance is needed.
In addition, we optimize rim lay-up design, eliminate excessive materials to save weight, and add extra materials around spoke hole area for reinforcement. Thus, our MTB carbon rims are super strong, but still light weight.

As the development of frame geometry, suspension design and tire technology, 32'' rim offers strong long-term potential as a platform for smoother, faster, and more stable riding.

ERD*
Effective Rim Diameter (ERD) is the maximum distance that spokes need to bridge going from one end of the rim to another. How do we calculate the ERD of our rims? The corresponding equation and a drawing is as shown:
ERD=OD-(rim depth)*2+(rim thickness)*2
For example：
ERD of AD32-36 rim=696mm-28mm*2+3mm*2=646mm
Most people prefer ERD including the length of the nipple cap. However, customers may use different nipples and components for building. Please add the height of the nipple cap(2.5mm~3mm generally) for your spoke calculation. If the height of the nipple cap is 3mm, then ERD of your AD32-36 rim is 646mm+3mm*2=652mm

Asymmetric Design
Asymmetric design mtb rims help to make wheelset with more even spoke tension between drive side and non-drive side. Carbon mtb wheels built with asymmetric rims are of better stiffness and stability. The spoke tension on such wheelset will not get loose easily, lower frequency for re-truing is needed.

Hookless Design Compared to bead hook rims, the sidewalls of hookless rims are thicker and stronger, providing better impact resistance. Straight bead provides more stance for tire. Tires will not be squeezed in bead as it was, which makes it less "light bulb effect". Thus, the tire/rim engagement is more stable, more difficult to be blown out under strong impact, which is important for carbon mtb rims.

Tubeless Ready
Tubeless tire has been the mainstream of mountain bike carbon wheels thanks to its better traction, lower rolling resistance and better riding comfort. All our carbon clincher rims are tubeless ready (also fit normal tube tires). Optimized anti-burp bump design provides easy tire mounting, dismounting, as well as air inflation. |
