DESCRIPTION

For MTB carbon rims, strength should be top priority which is essential for riders’ safety and good cycling experience.

PAD29 (ProX Asymmetric Design mtb 29er) carbon rims are made from premium Toray T700+T800 carbon fiber which is the basis to make high strength mtb carbon rims.

In addition, we optimize rim lay-up design, eliminate excessive materials to save weight, and add extra materials around spoke hole area for reinforcement.

Thus, our MTB carbon rims are light weight, but still strong and durable.

Asymmetric design helps to make wheelset with more even spoke tension between drive side and non-drive side. On the one hand, it makes wheelset stiffer since the spoke tension on non-drive side can be higher (than regular carbon wheels built with symmetric rims). On the other hand, the closer spoke tension between two sides make the wheelset more difficult to get loose after long time of use, which means less maintenance is needed.

PAD29 mtb carbon rims are optional in 30/33/38/40mm width, to meet different usage of XC, Trail, All Mountain, Enduro and Ebike.

ERD of mountain bike rims 29 inch

ERD*

Effective Rim Diameter (ERD) is the maximum distance that spokes need to bridge going from one end of the rim to another. How do we calculate the ERD of our rims? The corresponding equation and a drawing is as shown:

ERD=OD-(rim depth)*2+(rim thickness)*2

For example：

ERD of PAD930-XC rim=633mm-22mm*2+3mm*2=595mm

Most people prefer ERD including the length of the nipple cap. However, customers may use different nipples and components for building. Please add the height of the nipple cap(2.5mm~3mm generally) for your spoke calculation. If the height of the nipple cap is 3mm, then ERD of your PAD930-XC rim is 595mm+3mm*2=601mm

Besides, advanced graphene filling technology is used in producing our super light MTB carbon rims (GP model). 

Combining with stable resin system to make consistent quality and light weight 29er mountain bike rims.

Graphene filling Toray T700 + T800 carbon prepreg are well combined in our lay-up structure design, to create light weight carbon bike rims.

Excessive materials are eliminated to save weight, while extra materials are added around spoke hole for reinforcement.

So, light weight is achieved without compromise in strength or stiffness.

Asymmetric design mtb rims help to make wheelset with more even spoke tension between drive side and non-drive side.

Carbon mtb wheels built with asymmetric rims are of better stiffness and stability.

The spoke tension on such wheelset will not get loose easily, lower frequency for re-truing is needed.

Hookless Design

Hookless Design

Compared to bead hook rims, the sidewalls of hookless rims are thicker and stronger, providing better impact resistance.

Straight bead provides more stance for tire. Tires will not be squeezed in bead as it was, which makes it less "light bulb effect".

Thus, the tire/rim engagement is more stable, more difficult to be blown out under strong impact, which is important for carbon mtb rims.

Tubeless tire has been the mainstream of mountain bike carbon wheels thanks to its better traction, lower rolling resistance and better riding comfort.

All our carbon clincher rims are tubeless ready (also fit normal tube tires).

Xiamen ProX Carbon Technology Co., Ltd. set up factory in Xiamen City (Fujian Province, China) in 2010. At the beginning, we manufactured all kinds of customized carbon fiber products according to customers’ demand, including carbon bike rims, carbon tubes, carbon drone body shell, etc. Since 2012, we decided to focus on main products - carbon bike rims. In 2012, we built full range carbon road rims with 20.5mm width. In 2014, we built full range carbon road rims with 23mm width. In 2015, we built full range carbon road rims with 25mm width. In 2018, we introduced product line for MTB carbon rims (both symmetric and asymmetric design). During the same year, we set up wheel building workshop, and started to build carbon wheelset in-house. In 2019, we added 28mm width carbon road rims into our product line (both rim brake and disc brake). Besides, we created gravel carbon rims. During the same year (2019), LightCarbon (China leading carbon frame manufacturer) visited us. After several trial order for testing, they were very satisfied with our quality. Eventually, LightCarbon invested our facotry, and we build close business relationship. ProX supply carbon rims and carbon wheelset to LightCarbon, and LightCarbon supply carbon frameset and components to ProX. Since then, both ProX and LightCarbon are able to supply carbon rims, carbon wheels and carbon frameset, with same factory price. So it is convenient for customers to do one-stop purchasing.
