DESCRIPTION

Cyclocross and gravel carbon rims demand versatility and durability. ProX super wide gravel carbon rims are designed with 32mm inner width, which is suitable for gravel tires with size 700*44C-70C. The 40/45/50mm rim height options strikes a compelling balance for mixed-terrain adventures. 

The U-shaped rim profile enhances tire compatibility and stability. With a 32mm inner width, this design ensures optimal support for high-volume gravel tires (44C-70C), reducing the risk of tire rollover during aggressive cornering or technical descents. The wider bed allows tires to maintain a natural rounded profile, improving grip and shock absorption on loose surfaces like gravel, dirt, or mud. Built to handle the latest high-volume gravel tires, ensuring compatibility with evolving market trends.

Rim Height Options: 40mm vs. 45mm vs. 50mm

Choosing the right rim height depends on riding style and terrain:
40mm: Ideal for technical, unpredictable terrain. The lower profile prioritizes agility, weight savings, and crosswind stability. Perfect for riders tackling steep climbs or twisty singletrack.
45mm: A versatile middle ground. Balances aerodynamic gains compared to 40mm rim, and with moderate weight. It suits riders mixing paved gravel terrain.
50mm: Maximizes aerodynamic efficiency for fast-paced gravel races or rolling terrain. Slightly heavier on weight but offers noticeable speed retention on smoother surfaces.

ProX decal/logo is offered for free as showed in ProX decal page if decal in stock. The decal will be applied on the rim and do the matte or glossy finish according to customers’ preference. You can choose either with ProX decal or simply without decal (UD black matte or UD black glossy finish).

calculate the ERD of gravel rims

ERD*

Effective Rim Diameter (ERD) is the maximum distance that spokes need to bridge going from one end of the rim to another. How do we calculate the ERD of our rims? The corresponding equation and a drawing is as shown:

ERD=OD-(rim depth)*2+(rim thickness)*2

For example：

ERD of PXG32-40C rim=633mm-40mm*2+3.5mm*2=560mm

Most people prefer ERD including the length of the nipple cap. However, customers may use different nipples and components for building. Please add the height of the nipple cap(2.5mm~3mm generally) for your spoke calculation. If the height of the nipple cap is 3mm, then ERD of your PXG32-40C rim is 560mm+3mm*2=567mm

Xiamen ProX Carbon Technology Co., Ltd. set up factory in Xiamen City (Fujian Province, China) in 2010. At the beginning, we manufactured all kinds of customized carbon fiber products according to customers’ demand, including carbon bike rims, carbon tubes, carbon drone body shell, etc. Since 2012, we decided to focus on main products - carbon bike rims. In 2012, we built full range carbon road rims with 20.5mm width. In 2014, we built full range carbon road rims with 23mm width. In 2015, we built full range carbon road rims with 25mm width. In 2016, we introduced product line for BMX carbon rims, as well as fatbike carbon rims. In 2018, we introduced product line for MTB carbon rims (both symmetric and asymmetric design). During the same year, we set up wheel building workshop, and started to build carbon wheelset in-house. In 2019, we added 28mm width carbon road rims into our product line (both rim brake and disc brake). Besides, we created gravel carbon rims. During the same year (2019), LightCarbon (China leading carbon frame manufacturer) visited us. After several trial order for testing, they were very satisfied with our quality. Eventually, LightCarbon invested our facotry, and we build close business relationship. ProX supply carbon rims and carbon wheelset to LightCarbon, and LightCarbon supply carbon frameset and components to ProX. Since then, both ProX and LightCarbon are able to supply carbon rims, carbon wheels and carbon frameset, with same factory price. So it is convenient for customers to do one-stop purchasing.
